Sand Pendulum – Kinetic Pattern-Making Decoration

Sand Pendulum – Kinetic Pattern-Making Decoration
Simply set the pendulum in motion and unusual lines, circles and geometric compositions begin to appear on the surface of the sand. Each swing leaves a different trace, so the patterns created cannot be predicted exactly. They can be watched many times, discovering a new effect each time.
The metal pendulum hung on a steel cable moves freely above a round base filled with special sand. Its pointed tip gently draws patterns, showing in an attractive way the effects of gravity, inertia and the gradual damping of motion. It is a simple physics experiment that can fascinate both a child and an adult.
The pendulum can become an original decoration for a desk, office, workshop or student's room. Watching the slowly changing patterns helps take your mind off daily duties for a moment and promotes relaxation. When the motion ends, simply level the sand surface, set the pendulum in motion again and start creating another composition.
The set includes a base with a space for sand, an arm, a pendulum hung on a steel cable and sand that does not stick to the moving element. Thanks to its height of 38 cm, the decoration is clearly visible, yet it does not take up much space on a desk or shelf.
